What does Mabus Agency have to offer you?

We’re a small firm that found a niche that allows us to compete nationally. It’s a strange balance. Our team of 30-ish designers is a close-knit collaborative group. This is why we want in-office talent. We want you to be part of a group that shares in ideas and workload. This group of talented people creates work for clients across the country—from Portland, Oregon, to Portland, Maine (quite literally, and plenty of places in between).

We didn’t set out to do things differently from other agencies, but our common sense led us into unique areas of thought. We don’t bill clients for meetings. We view their time to be as valuable as ours. We limit the number of clients we serve so we can maintain a work/life balance. We get to work at 8am and leave at 5pm, and we don’t work on weekends.

We abhor the toxic growth found at many agencies. And because we’ve been careful, we’ve only grown. We’ve never had layoffs. We’ve never forced employees into overtime. Has everything been perfect? Absolutely not. But we’ve been able to make an impact nationally, in a very important industry without that success coming from anyone’s expense. We work hard, but we definitely have fun while we’re doing it.

Balance is backed by more than just good intentions. We’ve structured real benefits to match the way we work—because a sustainable job shouldn’t come at the cost of a full life. These aren’t flashy extras. They’re the kind of things that make it easier to show up, do your best work, and still have something left for everything else that matters.

  • You’ll earn a competitive salary that reflects your talent and experience.
  • Living here costs less—and your paycheck goes further.
  • You can actually afford to buy a home and build a life.
  • Paid time off starts generous—because rest isn’t something you earn later.
  • We match your 401(k) contributions to help you plan ahead.
  • Healthcare coverage is solid, simple, and available to your whole family.
  • We offer a moving stipend to help make relocation easier.
  • You’ll create national-level work seen by clients coast to coast.
  • We offer maternity and paternity leave—because your family matters, too.

Culture isn't a perk. It's a promise.

You’ve probably worked somewhere that promised balance—and delivered anything but. Too many agencies burn through talent with long hours, vague promises, and constant churn. We built something different. Not perfect. But real. A place where great work and a good life aren’t at odds. Where stability, collaboration, and clear expectations aren’t perks—they’re just how we work. The benefits are solid—but the real difference is getting home for dinner, with energy left to enjoy it.

Why Work at Mabus?

Consistent Growth

We’ve grown every year since 2008—with steady, strategic progress that makes room for new opportunities. It’s not a sprint. It’s the kind of momentum that builds careers, strengthens teams, and lets people do their best work.

No Layoffs

We’ve never had a layoff—and don’t plan to start. We grow carefully and keep our team intact. You don’t have to wonder what’s next. You get to focus on your craft, not your job security.

Truly 8 to 5

We work hard from 8 to 5—and then we go home. Nights and weekends are yours. You won’t be expected to “push through” or “grind it out.” We plan well, so your time stays yours.

No Cubicles

We work in a restored house—sunlight, real walls, shared tables, and actual doors. It’s open without being chaotic. Collaborative without being loud. No cubicle farms. Just an environment that feels as human as the work.

Short Commutes

Rush hour doesn’t exist here. Most of our team gets to work in under ten minutes. That means more time for mornings, more evenings at home, and more energy left for what matters most to you.

Collaborative Environment

We do our best work in small, focused pods—where feedback is fast and ideas move freely. Collaboration here isn’t just about sharing the load. It’s about building something better than any of us could alone.

What are we looking for?

Yes. We ended that sentence in a preposition. First of all, we’re looking for folks who know that’s a grammatical issue, but don’t care in this context. We want immensely talented people who haven’t found “their place” yet. Sometimes the work is good, the coworkers are good, but it still doesn’t feel right. We seem to be the place for folks who’ve experienced this. We want people who want to leave an indelible mark on businesses where it matters. People who hate toxic cultures of bullying, backbiting, and dysfunctional competition—and want no part of it.

We need people who work best when they’re around other sharp, curious people. People who value communication and collaboration—not just as ideals, but as fuel for better work. That’s why all our positions are in-office, here in Tupelo, Mississippi. Relocation is required, because we believe something powerful happens when talented people share space, time, and ideas. You can feel the momentum when it clicks. We understand that won’t be a fit for everyone. But we believe deeply in what it makes possible.

We don’t want folks here just so we can keep an eye on them. We want people whose presence makes us better—who bring just as much to the conversation as they do to the output.

In short, hopefully we’re looking for you.

But what about Tupelo?

If you’ve heard of Tupelo, Mississippi, it’s probably because it’s the birthplace of Elvis Presley. Beyond that, it might not be on your “places to move” list. We get it. It’s a small town. But there are advantages for a small town. You lose a lot of variety in local entertainment compared to a large town. But you gain safety, short (or nonexistent) commutes, and a true community.

Tupelo is difficult to describe in words, but easy to understand when you visit. It’s quiet, but lively. It’s classic yet progressive. It won’t tickle everyone’s fancy, but if it’s your cup of tea, you’ll fall in love right away. If we hit it off in interviews, we’ll pay your way to check us out.

And the region?

That’s where Tupelo really makes sense. This town gives you a great place to live. Then you get to explore the greater region on your days off. We’re a short drive from Memphis, Tenn., and Birmingham, Ala. Oxford, Miss., is right down this road with James Beard Award-winng restaurants. If you into mountains and hiking, the Ozarks and Smokies are a few hours away, in opposite directions. Beaches? You’re four hours from good beachs and about six hours from great beaches. Atlanta and Nashville can scractch your metropolitan itch. And you can visit another world in New Orleans.

If you don’t want to drive, we have incredibly affordable flights to Nashville and Dallas (DFW). You might not make a trip every weekend, but it’s nice to have a low-cost base to branch out and experience the rich culture of the Southeast. We’re leaving out a ton of hidden gems and even a few obvious destinations, but you get the point.

Come Build Something With Us

You’ve read this far for a reason. Maybe you’re like the rest of us—talented, driven, and not willing to waste that on a place that doesn’t get it. You want to do work that matters, with people who pull in the same direction. You want to grow without burning out. To be challenged without being chewed up.

We’re not selling a dream job. We’re offering a real one. The kind you can build a career—and a life—around.

If that sounds like your next move, let’s talk. We’d love to meet you.
